How Much Does it Cost to Fix an iPhone Screen

Drop your phone and break the screen? For any smashed or not responding touch screens, a complete screen repair and replacement is needed. On all iPhones since the iPhone 4, the digitizer (touch screen) and the LCD screen are one single component, which we can change for a brand new one. The entire process is performed by one of our engineers, and generally takes an hour to repair.

What makes our repairs special?

Screen replacement might look like an easy fix but not a perfect fix might cause many other issues! Using no glue between the glass and touch sensor resulting in:
  • Dust getting between the glass and touch over time
  • High chance of the glass falling off, as it is only held on with double sided tape around the edge
  • Moisture/humidity accumulating between the glass and touch
  • Touch sensor not working properly because there is no contact between the glass and touch
  • Glass breaks more easily after the repair, as it is no longer attached to the screen assembly. Please note, we use high quality non-Apple parts. Apple does not directly supply parts, and we are in no way affiliated with Apple.
Repairs which are done using "liquid optically clear adhesive", beware of:
  • Dust and impurities getting into the glue layer between the glass and touch
  • Discolouration (yellowing) due to the glue curing unevenly in UV light
  • Damage to your bezel, which is not replaced

Below are the general steps we go through to replace the screen:

Step 1
Prior to any repair all the main functions are tested to ensure there are no pre existing issues.
The device is powered off to prevent any short circuiting during the dismantle. The two bottom pentalobe screws are removed so the assembly can be detached from the aluminium frame.
Step 2
The metal flex cable panel is removed to expose the display, touch module and sensor flex cables and are detached from the main board. At this stage the screen has been separated from the frame.
Step 3
The earpiece protective metal cage is removed and heat is applied to the top of detached screen to loosen the glue that bonds front camera, microphone and sensor flex assembly to the plastic frame, this assembly is completely detached.
Step 4
The LCD and home button metal backing plates are removed and the home flex cable is detached from the connector.
Step 5
The metal plates are inserted onto the new part and reassembled. Before the assembled unit is inserted back into the aluminium frame the device is powered on to test all the main functions. This test is repeated once when completed and fully assembled.
Step 6
Finally, to try and prevent this form happening again, installing a tempered glass protector is always a good idea. The protectors very from basic to premium armour. Use a microfiber cloth to ensure the screen surface is totally clean before you install the glass. You only get one shot and if you mess it up, it goes in the bin. You can also use an alcohol swab to ensure any natural oils are also removed.
